My Investment in Apple's 3G iPhone Australian and Global launch

Telstra announced that they will be offering the iPhone 3G in Australia, with the launch scheduled for July 11. Optus and Vodafone will also launch their iPhone offerings at the same time. I have been using the older iPhone model for a few months (officially only sold in the US, though it was cracked and sold worldwide) and really think it is one of the best smart phones out there. The new 3G version with improved features, should be a big hit and really help the bottom line of Apple as it will be distributed internationally across multiple carriers. The new iPhone, includes fast 3G wireless technology, maps with GPS, support for enterprise features like Microsoft Exchange, and the new Apple Store access. Like the original iPhone, it combines three products in one—a revolutionary phone, a wide-screen iPod, and a breakthrough Internet device with rich HTML email and full web browsing. As some pundits are saying the "iPhone 3G. It redefines what a mobile phone can do—again."

With the above in mind and the ongoing growth in sales of Apple's other products (laptops, iPod products and iTunes store sales), I really believe Apple's future is strong. This led me to making a big investment in their stock ($16,000) and I believe that in the long term this should double. You can read more about this investment and reader comments at my US focused investment blog - savingtoinvest.com. I am currently down on my investment (thanks to falling markets last week), but still firmly believe in the long term future for the company. You'll see what I mean if you end up buying or using the iPhone.

Finally telstra fights back with an annoucement to bring 3G iPhone to Australia! (at a very competitive price!!)
This news is gonna affect 1) Telstra share, 2) AAPL.
I strongly believe the share of AAPL is going up & up & up -no doubt about that.
I read a lot of news about the shipment of the new 3G iPhone over the past few weeks & the amount is double/triple the amount in comparison to the first iPhone shipment. I seriously think that Apple has successfully implemented an "Extreme Marketing" (as mentioned in Mark Steven''s " Your Marketing Sucks" book). They create the need & want in the market before they even launch the product itself . Keeping everyone in suspend with all the speculations. I should have invested in their shares when they first announced the 3G iphone back in June 9 as there was a huge dip in their share price - even though i know i did not have enough resources to do so. In fact, bear in mind that July 11th is only gonna mark iPhone history in 20 countries, there are over 70 more countries waiting to fill their hunger for iPhone by the end of this year. Imagine the amount of shipments. Even at the most conservative count, it will still be a huge amount!
Good on you for getting onboard!

Too funny, Telstra was the last phone company to announce getting the 3G iPhone, yet get all your praise?

I'm assuming you're a Telstra customer then?

I personally can't see what all the fuss is about, they are horrible to use for sending text messages, and they cartainly won't replace the Blackberry any time soon in a business environment.

They are shiny and Apple branded though, I'll give you that.
